Play Piano in a Flash
Chord Approach Method

  • Did you take piano lessons as a child
but still can’t play at all?

  • Have you been dusting, but not
playing, your family piano for years
    and years?

  • Have you always wanted to
play piano but can’t read any
    musical notation?

If your answer to any of the above questions is "yes," this way of playing is for you. I am happy to be certified in the "Piano in a Flash" method developed by Scott Houston, star of "The Piano Guy," popular on many Public Television stations. Using these techniques, you don't need to practice for many hours to get meaningful results.

In this method, students are guided on how to play non-classical music by learning how to read music written in "Lead Sheet" format. This format contains only the melody line with chord symbols. Students can quickly learn to play most styles of popular music, such as old standards, jazz, blues, country, rock, and others.

This method explores the following skills:
  • Learning to read "Lead Sheets," which is music with melody and chord symbols
  • Learning Treble Clef notation (right hand)
  • Learning chord structures, progressions (no Bass Clef notation)
  • Combining left hand chords with right hand melodies to play your favorite songs

By the end of the workshop, you will be on your way to playing your favorite songs. Materials include 2 books which will be useful long after the workshop is over.
